Energy Flows and the Nervous System: Scientific and Esoteric Perspectives on Harmonization

Sometimes you wake up with the feeling that the night did not rest you. Coffee, gym, a walk, meditation — everything is done right, yet inside there is depletion and a dull tension. It is as if the body lives at one rhythm and consciousness at another. This article is not only an analysis of the scientific and esoteric systems of working with energy flows but also a personal experience of practices.

I have long tried to understand why outwardly everything is fine, and inside there is a constant background of fatigue, power leakage, a quiet desynchronization.

Our time is overloaded with signals. The brain retains thousands of fragments of information and operates at a high frequency almost without pauses. In the pursuit of “tuning” life, we forget the basic — our energetic foundation, what keeps us stable.

In the last month I have been working with flows — descending and ascending — and I notice how not only the emotional state changes, but also the density of attention, the transparency of thoughts, the ability to make decisions. This is a return to a biorythm in which the body originally knows how to live.

Body-energy System in Scientific and Practical Visions

Modern science describes a person as a dynamic bioelectrical structure. Nerve impulses, tissue conductivity, electromagnetic fields of the heart and brain — all of this forms energy currents that constantly interact with the external environment.

Physics has long been dealing with phenomena that parallel esoteric models:

  • electromagnetic fields (Maxwell's equations),

  • resonant systems (Schumann resonance ~7.83 Hz),

  • bioelectrical contours of the human body (Pace, McGinty, McCray studies),

  • neurovisceral regulation — sympathetic and parasympathetic systems.

In esotericism these phenomena have been described for centuries as flows of life energy — ascending and descending.

And although terms differ in different traditions (nadis, chi, meridians, channels), their essence is the same: the person is a conduit between the Earth and celestial levels.

Ascending Flow: Earth Energy, Power, Renewal, and Life Regeneration

The ascending flow is associated with the movement of energy from the Earth upward — through the feet, spine, to the crown. This is activation, resilience, vitality. In neurophysiology, it corresponds to processes of mobilization, sympathetic system tone, increased attention and clarity.

Scientific justification:

• microelectrical stimulation of tissues – accelerates healing;

• ionization of soil and electromagnetic fields of the Earth – influence blood circulation and nervous system;

• bioelectric gradient – natural rise of energy through tissues.

Its manifestations: activates energy centers and meridians, “turning on” chakras located below and above the body, triggers the natural restoration mechanism, purifies stagnated energy, enhances intuition and perception.

It also rises in a spiral — opposite in direction to the descending one. This creates an energy torus, similar to what the heart creates in biophysics.

Activation Practices:

  • barefoot walking and any forms of grounding,

  • slow breathing with a long exhale,

  • visualization of a column of light flowing from space through the body,

  • somatic techniques: tremor, static supports, gentle squats.

Descending Flow: Space Energy, Stabilization, Materialization

Scientifically this correlates with grounding — the process of removing excess charge and leveling the electrostatic potential. The body switches to a parasympathetic mode: breathing deepens, heart rate stabilizes, hormonal background balances. Synchronization of biorhythms with the Earth’s frequency (7.83 Hz - Schumann resonance).

It provides: clarity and calmness, a sense of support, materialization of intents, grounding of excessive emotions, cleansing from “foreign” energies, alignment of the energetic background.

In the subtle body model the flow has a spiral movement, which opens channels along the spine, cleans informational “nodes” and activates lower energy centers and Earthly chakras (located below the feet: “Earth Star,” “Root of the Lineage,” etc.). When the flow is stable, the emotional background becomes smoother, the body begins to heal from within. standing on earth, on roots, sand, tree,

Activation Practices:

  • standing on earth, on roots, sand, a tree,

  • visualization of a column of light flowing from the earth through the body to the crown,

  • plastic movements of the pelvis and spine,

  • work with the lower chakras and the “Earth Chakras.”

Combination of Flows: Energy Torus and Body Synchronization

When both flows are connected, a person returns to a state of internal synchronization: energy circulates freely, decisions are easier, emotions no longer “jump.”

In physics, the torus is a stable form of an energy field. In the human body it manifests as a balance of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, the alignment of the heart's electromagnetic field, and overall integrity.

In esotericism this is described as: "entry-exit", "top-bottom", "cosmos-earth", "clean channel".

When the flows are connected – a person enters a state of clarity, inner truth, self-healing, steady emotionality and resourceful calm.

Why Flows are Important for Self-Regulation

Active descending and ascending flows lead to systemic changes:

  • stress levels decrease,

  • sleep improves,

  • bodily tensions release,

  • hormonal regulation normalizes,

  • emotional reactivity stabilizes,

  • the sense of inner grounding increases.

This is the basic mechanism of self-regulation — on which any energetic or somatic practice rests. When the nervous system stops living in a state of chronic tension, it begins to recover faster. The body releases old blocks, breathing becomes even, the brain switches to a more stable rhythm.

Regular activation of the flows strengthens internal resources and restores natural circulation of energy, increasing clarity and the ability for self-regulation.

Conclusions

In a world where the mind is constantly overloaded and the body lives in a mode of chronic tension, practices of working with ascending and descending flows become not just a spiritual experience — but a tool for returning to one’s own nature. Their effect is not explained by magic, but by the synchronization of the nervous system, breathing, hormonal response, and bodily sensations.

You don’t need special conditions for this — a few minutes a day is enough for the body to remember its natural algorithm.

Harmony is not an external achievement. It is an inner rhythm that unfolds when we finally return to contact with the body, the Earth, and the Heaven. When flows become part of everyday life – the world changes along with us.
