Personality

Personality is the most populated part of our psychology section. It covers what character is made of, how stable traits really are and what lies behind them: temperament, early experience, environment. It also covers states that are easier to recognise once they have a name — derealisation, anhedonia, the narcissistic personality type.

We try not to turn terms into labels. A "narcissist" in everyday conversation and narcissistic personality disorder are different things, and that difference matters more than a catchy headline. Where a condition requires diagnosis, we say plainly that no article can provide one.
