Chakral System

Chakral System

The chakra system is part of Indian traditions of working with the body and attention: centres, each associated with its own states, themes and practices. It is a language for describing experience, formed long before modern physiology, and it deserves to be treated as such — as a tradition rather than as anatomy.

This section covers what the tradition assigns to each centre, where the familiar sevenfold scheme came from and why sources disagree about it, and how breathing and meditation practices relate to sensations in the body. It also marks the line: physical symptoms are a question for a doctor, not for a scheme of centres.
